1. Mary NEFF, first wife of Daniel Biddlecome, died and left a child named Mary Ellen, who was reared in Indiana by his parents [Richard & Ruth Biddlecome]. In 1848 Mary Ellen and her fiance, Geo. W. Taylor, came out to Missouri to get her father's permission to marry. They were married in Mt. Vernon and went to Arkansas City to live. She is buried there. Anne Lozano stated: "In 1856 MaryElen Biddlecome Taylor walked, crossed on footlogs to town to buy a family Bible. My Great Grandfather, her son, Winfield Scott Taylor, 4 years old, went with her.” [248]
