Misc. Notes
1. Daniel was a farmer, served as surveyor of Lawrence County, Missouri, and was a mill wheelwright (a 3rd generation skill). He was a Mason & charter member of the Lawrence County Lodge. He is shown as a retired public administrator. [117]

2. Daniel was the son of Richard Biddlecome, who was the only Biddlecome to be pensioned by the federal government as a veteran of the Revolutionary War. Daniel's grandfather, Daniel Biddlecome (Sr.) of Vermont, was also a RW veteran, having fought in the Battle of
Bennington. In 1820 he resided in Kentucky and married Mary Neff. They had 1 child. Evidently shortly after that, Mary died. A little later, he met the love of his life and eloped on horseback to Elizabethtown, KY. and married the former Sarah Pawley in 1822. They had children in Kentucky, Indiana, and after Daniel's father died in Indiana they eventually settled in Lawrence County, Missouri where they had more children. He was a devoted family man, raising 11 children (10 with Sarah), and brought them up in the Presbyterian Church. Having earned a living as a farmer and a mill wheelwright (trades passed down from his grandfather), Daniel became the county surveyor of Lawrence County (SURVEYING WAS ANOTHER TRADE LEARNED FROM HIS FATHER AND GRANDFATHER). Later he became the Public Administrator for the county, from which position he retired. Daniel was also a Mason, being a Charter Member of the Lawrence County Missouri Lodge. His dedication to the community earned him a tremendous amount of respect. Daniel and his wife, Sarah, are buried in the Schooling Cemetery in Lawrence Co., MO and there are photographs of their tombstones compliments of Stephen Kingsley. There are many descendents of Daniel. One of his children founded the Biddlecome Funeral Home in Seneca, Missouri that is still in business today. A few years ago the family sold the business to Campbell Funeral Home, which was located in another city. Later the name was changed to Biddlecome-Campbell Funeral Home, and now it is called Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home. [248]

3. Laverne, Missouri Newspaper abt 1936. BOY NAMED FOR GREAT-GREAT GRANDFATHER, CAME HERE IN 1838.

Daniel Biddlecome, 5-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Biddlecome of Aurora, is hardly old enough to understand much about it, but his family will celebrate this month the 100th anniversary of the coming of another Daniel Biddlecome to Lawrence county in 1838. It was 100 years ago this month that Daniel Biddlecome and his young bride of 16, came to Lawrence county in 1838. Since that time the family has had a representative living in the county, for they became the parents of seven children. Young Daniel Biddlecome is the great-great-grandson of these early day pioneers. A quarrel with his father-in-law over some slaves leth the first Biddlecome to emigrate to Mt. Vernon from Elizabethtown, Ky. His bride, the former Sarah Pawley, was the daughter of a Kentucky planter whom he had wooed and won when she was but 16 years old. This first Daniel Biddlecome was a highly educated man, a member of a family which had come to Kentuck from Vermont. He was a surveyor and millwright and built many of the early-day mills in this section of the state. He also founded a newspaper at Mt. Vernon. Another great-great-grandson is, John Robert Beckett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Beckett of Aurora. Bill Biddlecome of Aurora is a grandson as is C. C. Biddlecome. Mrs. W. N. Burney is a granddaughter and Mrs. Beckett is a great-granddaughter. [248]
