1. From the Democrat Message, 7 March 1956:
“Funeral services for Christine Dean Howell were held in the Tarrant Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Bartels officiating. Pallbearers were Ernest Fluckey, Robert Fluckey, Dean Perry, Gilbert Perry, Roy Fluckey and Johnnie Clark. Flowers were cared for by Frances Clayton and Ruth Perry. Mrs. Glen Myers and Mrs. Christine Hurst sang, accompanied by Mrs. Clarke Mitchell. Burial was in Cooperstown Cemetery. Christine Dean, one of ten children of the late James and Margaret Crabtree, was born June 9th, 1886, in Brown County and passed away in a Jacksonville hospital February 28th, 1956 at the age of 69 years, eight months, and 11 days. She was united in marriage to William Jacob Hulett in 1903. To this union was born three daughters, Mrs. Eva Waters of Bethaldo; Mrs. nina Fluckey of Versailles and one child dying at infancy. She was later united in marriage to C.C. Howell in Mt. Sterling, who preceeded her in death. She was a member of the Methodist Church of Mt. Sterling and has been in ill health for the past seven years. She is survived by the daughters, two sisters, Mrs. Rachael Whittaker of Clayton and Mrs. Nancy Clark of Versailles; nineteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.” [122]
