Misc. Notes
1. James Coffey and family lived in Lincoln, Illinois, then moved to Ohio, West Virginia and then finally to California in 1951. This info from a letter written by James D. Coffey, sent to me by Claire Sloop, June 2004. The letter was sent to Claire by her uncle, John W. Davis. The letter is not dated, and it is unknown who the letter was addressed to originally.

2. My grandmother, Beatrice Sanders Wakenshaw remembers a Delmer or Delmar who she thought was a Comstock. She said he worked in a china factory in Lincoln. In the 1930 US Census, James Delmar Coffey is listed as having an occupation of Potter and working in a Pottery Factory. There was a large china factory in Lincoln at the time. I believe my grandmother was speaking of James D. Coffey, as she was young at the time and probably didn’t know about her grandpa Comstock’s second marriage to Sallie Childers. James was probably brought up with some of the family thinking he was a Comstock.
