1. “Records from the War Department state that Isaac C. Chaudoin, a 2nd Lieutenant of Company C, 7th Regiment Kentucky Cavalry, Confederate States Army, entered the service 11 Sep 1862 in Taylor Co., Kentucky. Company Muster Roll for Nov and Dec 1862, dated 23 Feb 1863 last on file, shows him present. His name appears on a roster of that regiment dated 15 Jan 1865 with the following remark opposite his name “Prisoner of War”. The date of his capture is not shown, and no later record of his has been found.” [6]

2. The following letter written by Isaac C. Chaudoin (addressed to J. C. Sanders) indicates that he was a prisoner at Allegheny City, Pennsylvania:
“Dear sir,
For the second time since I have been prisoner I wright to you to inform you that I am well and hope these lines will finde you and famely injoying good health. I never have received a letter from you since I have been a prisoner. I would like very well to hear from you if you see fit to answer my letters if you don’t no harme done. There was a big frost hear on last Sunday night. I don’t no what the damage is. The weather here been very dry hear and corn is sorry and I escpect bit by frost. I am doing very well getting plenty to eat and plenty of escercise in the way of walking about and running jumping and pass the time of very well. See to my little family all you can.

(on the reverse written on letter sheet which had been trimmed on left and top. Sheet was folded in three division. On reverse was inscription “Diret your leter to Allegheny city pennsylvania to the care of capt John burmingham. Dont wright but one page of leter paper if you doe I wont get to see it.” No date was on paper) [6]
