In 1957 he started 3 new cemeteries for himself in Cullman, AL, Jasper, AL (Walker Memory Gardens) and Tuscaloosa, AL (Memory Hill Gardens). He sold Cullman Memory Gardens in 1958. In 1966 Max developed the first Cemetery-Funeral Home combination east of Dallas, TX in Tuscaloosa, AL, when he built Memory Chapel Funeral Home on the Memory Hill Gardens property. He had a great vision of the future of the combination cem./funeral home operations in the cemetery industry.
